I have a question: customer moved Data Center locations then upgraded New EV from 9 to 10 and eventually to 11. All indexes other than 1 have been moved without issue. There is 1 EV9 server (32 bit) that is going away. 1 EV11 server with all storage and indexes in tact but 1. I've copied the indexes to the new EV11 server locations however I cannot change the location and recieve the error. "the Manage indexes wizard has failed to create the indexing task. Reason: the source and target s for the change locations are not in the same indexing group or server."
Now can I do the following: Group the EV9 and EV11 indexes uisng the indexing group wizard long enough to change the location and ungroup them after the change has been completed? I've never tried this on an EV9 server, and have no lab to attempt this. My assumption is that they can be moved and then ungrouped and the problem should be completed. Any answer on this will help.
