We use the Enterprise Vault Agent for Netbackup, current situation is that there is only 1 option to backup the indexes, which is EV_INDEX_LOCATION=<site name>
With this limitation, when a backup job is kicked off, all indexes at all remote locations backup to the device selected in the netbackup job, which in our case is the main sites diskpool. The remote wan connectivity cannot handle the load of backing up hundreds of gb of indexes.
However when backing up the vault stores, we are able to specify each vault store individually which means we can point the vault store at each remote location to backup to the local device.
I would like to formaly request the ability for the EV Agent for Netbackup to separate out the index locations to backup so that these can be backed up locally.
