I'm seeing a strange problem with EV File System Archiving whereby the placeholder size created is larger than the size of the file being archived. I'd expect the placeholder size to be 4KB but it's coming back as 64KB when I look at the properties of the file. I get the Offline file icon all ok and the files are being archived fine. It's just the size of the placeholder. If the file that's been archived is less that 64KB the placeholder always reports as 64KB, if the file is larger that 64KB the placeholder shows as 128KB (unless the files is larger than 128KB). So it seems that the placeholder is increasing in increments of 64KB and always the nearest 64KB that's larger than the original file. I've checked the cluster size of the disk and it's formatted at 4KB as normal.
This is a concern as my attempts to reduce the size of my primary storage is actually being made larger by EV.... File recall works fine, but again once the file has been recalled the file size remains at the same 64KB even if the recalled file was a lot smaller. I physically need to copy the file to a different folder for it to revert back to it's original size. I'm archiving from a Windows 2008 file sever
Is that weird or what?
