Morning all, I've been asked to initiate a storage expiry strategy (gulp) AND exclude a subset of users from the strategy (bosses)
I have 2 current retention categories - Forever and 7 years
My understanding is I can make changes to these policies and the content archived against them will update retrospectively
The challenge I'm faced with is excluding individuals from this process
My ideas are:
1. Rehydrate the mailboxes of those users I wish to exclude, zap, reprovision against new policy/retention category, re-enable, new archive, and allow the mail to be rearchived against the new policies. Delete old archive once confirmed succesfull. Indexes update. Task completed
2. I thought about maybe exporting the archive to PST and importing into a new archive, but this requires a seperate licence right? Also even if I had the licence, how would the new retention category be applied? I'd still need to zap, reprovision and re-enable the user so I could attach to this new archive?
3. What about the archive tick box 'Delete expired items from this archive automatically'? I understand 'automatically' but does this mean items could still be expired by another process. I need to avoid any risk of expiry for these users
Any other ideas weclome
Many thanks
