Items in J2 queue [1] - purge?

Hello all,

I am fighting an issue with Journal Archiving. Databases have been checked, as has access to systemmailboxes, journalmailboxes etc.

I have large MSMQ's mainly J2 (some are over 70.000 items) Several queues have items with value [1]. I recall from previous forum posts by others that this indicates the original action failed, and that this is a retry. I also recall it can go to [2], and then [3] before being disregarded.

Can these items be manually purged? Or does tha have an unwanted side-effect?
